Awareness Program on Dengue Fever

An awareness program on dengue fever was organized by Department of Zoology, Vijayanagar College,  at Indira Nagar, Hosapeta city on 23 July 2024 at 11.30 AM, in collaboration with the IQAC and the District Health and Family Welfare Department. This event was spearheaded by Dr. LR Shankar Naik, District Health and Family Welfare Department inaugurating the session. They urged students and ASHA workers to focus on educating the public about dengue mosquito larvae and their control, emphasizing the importance of genuine awareness efforts.

Dr. Siddarameshwar Gugri, a pediatric specialist, provided insights into the significance of platelet counts in blood and maintaining their balance. Following the formal session, students, grouped with ASHA workers, conducted a survey around Indira Nagar to check for dengue larvae.

 

The program was attended by Mr. L. Mallikarjuna Metri from the College Governing Body, Vijayanagara College, Dr. M. Prabhugouda, Principal of Vijayanagara College, Vijay S. Gulalakayi, HOD, Department of Zoology, Ravikiran, IQAC Coordinator, Kamalamma, a Malaria Specialist, Parasurama Doddamani, Dr. Basavaraja, Mahantesh Aradhyamath, Dr. Supriya T., Asma Bhanu S., Pushpa Kavatagi, staff from the District Health and Family Welfare Department, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers Amalamma and Jyoti, among others
